Chip Yannone 94 lbs " Maine Black Bear"

September 7, 2007 5:20PM

My first black bear.  From gathering donuts in June to getting this picture taken, what an incredible process.  One hour in the stand before this bruin appeared out of some thick brush right over my bait !  A site I will never forget. A forty yard shot with my 30/30 and one to finish up, this guy dropped almost in his tracks.  I think we found another addiction on our property in Maine.

The following four pictures are from a private hunt in Pennsylvania.  Great accommodations, great guides, and special thanks to Tbarr for setting up the trip.

Chip Yannone "Wild Boar"

March 2007

Allen shot a bigger one, and that's all I have to say about that.

Bobbie-Jo McAllister

March 2007

Two fallow deer fell to Bobbie-Jo's cross bow.  The only problem she had was picking which ones to shoot, and pulling the bolts out of the ground after the shots.

Allen Yannone "Wild Boar"

March 2007

"Never tell a teenager with loaded gun what pig to shoot."  Allen took this pig from an elevated stand with a 270 rifle from just feet away.  No problem with the blood trail.

Robbie Connolly  "Fallow Deer"

March 2007

Who says pickup trucks don't make good rifle rests. 90 yards into the boiler room with a 30/30 rifle. Nice Shot !

November 28, 4:00 PM

I woke up around 4:00 and saw this doe walking down the trail to Chip (Go Figure!).  Five minutes later (Chip Stinks) The Doe came walking back towards me.  One shot from my 50 cal. black powder at 44 yards dropped her instantly.  Two more security shots shortly after, secured my First Deer Ever.

Chip Yannone 70lbs 2005

December 7, 7:15 AM

A perfect cold crispy crunchy morning.  I heard this little guy walking around about 200 yards away just after sunrise.  I watched him for about an hour as he cut the distance to about 40 yards and presented his vitals.  My first shot from the sweet 16 missed due to the precarious shot to my right side.  The second shot knocked him down, and the third shot shortly after did this tasty little button buck in.  Thanks to Uncle Ed and the sled for helping with the drag.

December 1, 4:00 PM

This buck was really cruising from my left to right.  A hurried 20 yard shot crippled his rear legs (and privates).  Running 30 more yards he laid down allowing me time to put a second shot in the chest.  We dragged this deer to the closest neighborhood and quickly removed this buck by pickup truck.

Birthday Buck !  From my fixed position stand I saw this bruiser over my right shoulder pushing a doe.  I turned on my stand, kneeled and placed a shot through his lungs.  As I reloaded my black powder for a shot on the doe, I heard him wheeze and saw him list.  The doe will live to be hunted another day.  Thanks to Tom Tommy for the drag.

Chip Yannone 250lbs "Wild Boar"

January 2005

I got a spine shot on this big n' tasty sow just before lunch on a private hunt in Pennsylvania.  I lead the first boar that ran by a little too much with my black powder rifle.  This gal was the last pig to run by.  Thanks to "doc" handing me his rifle just before it was too late, its roasts and sausage time.

Bobbie- Jo McAllister  "Corsican Ram"

January 2005

Bobbie Jo shot this beautiful mature ram on a private hunt in Pennsylvania.  After a brief spot and stock, a heart shot at 90 yards brought this guy down. If you like the picture, you should see the movie.

Chip Yannone   109lbs   2004

Opening Day Bow 3:45 PM

She peeked down the trail I was on from the field about 70 yards away.  Sensing something was wrong, she bypassed the trail I was on and entered the woods further down the field.  I got a shot at her and missed at about 40 yards.  About 45 minutes later she walked right to my stand.  I shot her at 10 yards, and watched her drop about 30 yards away.

Chip Yannone   102lbs   2003

November 18, 4:20 PM

After missing a shot at the first deer (that woke me up), this doe popped out about 20 minutes later.  She took a route that brought her behind me to present a shot at 35 yards. As she walked behind an old pine, I came to full draw, she stalled behind the tree, then finally started walking right towards me.  As she closed the distance to my stand, my arms began shaking from holding full draw for so long.  Just as she began to turn to my left, I touched one off and smacked her just in front of the shoulder and through both lungs.  Special thanks to "T" for helping with this long drag.

May 1st 8:AM

After spotting some birds roosting the night before, I was out before sunrise the next morning ready to go.  I heard some birds leave the roost around 6:30 AM but despite my calling efforts I could only get hens to respond.  At 7:30 I decided to get up and change my spot.  Desperate at about 7:50, because I had to leave the woods at 8:AM, I tried a gobble call.  This jake immediately came in gobbling from behind me.  I took him at 15 yards with my 12 gauge shot gun, 1st shot.

Chip Yannone     103 lbs      2002

A Thursday in November 4:15 PM

Sitting in my stand I had seen several deer earlier in the season, but nothing close enough for a shot, this deer was the second one to cross a trail in front of me at 25 yards.  I drew back on the first one but my arrow fell off the rest.  As I was cursing to myself, I heard this one coming through and was ready.  It was a well placed double lung complete pass through.  75 yards later, in the dark, we found her piled up.

 Tom Burke 130lb 6pts 2002

A Saturday Morning in November

As I was hiking down the tree about 8:30 AM this guy surprised me.  A very well placed arrow in the heart at twenty yards was touched off around the tree with my feet still strapped into the stand.  I watched as he took off and ran full boat into a tree about 40 yards away.  The impact knocked his antler off ! you can see me holding it on for the picture.

John Burke 10pts 2001

Would you take a look at this buck !  John says its only 9pts, but I will give him the extra point for the broken off tine.  This beautiful buck of a lifetime decided to walk by me just as I had climbed down out of my stand for the morning.  My 12 gauge pump smacked him as I watched his rack pass over some brush 50 yards away. After nervously tracking him, without much blood to follow,  we did finally find this beautiful buck.

Chip Yannone     90 lbs +/-     2000

November 27th 6:15 AM

This button buck came through a break in a stone wall walking around the back of my stand within 20 yards.  Although my first shot missed, I was fortunate enough to send home a second shot from my Browning Sweet 16 that put him down.  After my 3rd and final shot, I dragged this deer over 300 yards to the back of my truck.

Chip Yannone    Two Cock Pheasants

November 5, 2000

These two fine cock pheasants were taken at Miles Standish State Forest.  Cider, a two year old yellow lab flushed both of these birds directly at me.  They were taken with my 20 gauge Browning over and under, one with the first shot at 10 yards, the other with a second "panicked" shot at 35 yards. I hope Shiner is proud of me.

John Burke 80lb doe 1999

December 10, 1999 8:20 A.M.

Arrived in my stand shortly before 6:00 AM. At about 7:45
heard sound of a loud snap behind me. Turning around in my
stand see a large doe 100 yards away. Out of the corner of
my eye I see a flutter of white which turns out to be the
doe pictured. She's walking up the path directly behind me
approx. 75 yards away. She then turns and starts to walk
away and I took my shot. She took off through the woods and
approx. 5 minutes later I went to where I last saw her. She
was about 50 yards away and I was surprised she was still
there. After moving to where she was standing I closed the
distance to 30 yards finishing the taking of my FIRST DEER.

 Tom Burke 130lb 8pts 1999

After seeing this buck the day before, on the way out of the woods, I was so confident I would see him this morning, I brought my camera to the hunt.  A little after 6:am, this buck made the fatal mistake of creeping around the back of my (Chip's) stand. One shot (to the head) dropped this dandy buck.
